Pressure-treated woods are best for constructing the dog house as they are built with heavy metals designed purposely for added strength and extended life. However, this may be poisonous for you pet, so avoid using it as material for the floor, the walls or any part of the dog house which may come in contact with your pets body. Also, when dealing with the pressure-treated woods, use protective masks and gloves. In effect, you must observe the use of animal-friendly construction materials and be wary of anything that will come in contact with your dog's body which points you to using only untreated materials for the walls, the ceiling and the floor of the house (e.g. untreated plywood or softwood).
